This project was created for Esplanade Offstage, in conjunction with the stage adaptation of The BFG. The goal was to develop a set of key visuals that reflect not just the story itself, but the process of bringing a large-scale theatre production to life.
Rather than focusing purely on the narrative of The BFG, the visual direction shifts towards the world behind the stage — highlighting the technical production, craftsmanship, and collaboration involved in transforming an idea into a live performance.
The two key visuals are designed as a pair:
Other Sketches
KV1 explores the journey of bringing the production to Singapore, combining elements of transport, stage construction, and the theatre environment.

KV2 focuses on the backstage process, featuring lighting systems, sound equipment, set design, and technical elements. The composition brings together these components in a slightly surreal, dreamlike way — referencing the idea of “capturing” different parts of the production, similar to how dreams are collected in The BFG.

The final KVs were adapted across multiple formats for different platforms, including 1200×630, 1200×750, and 9:16. Each format required adjustments to the composition to ensure key elements remained clear and well-balanced across varying layouts.
